ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a neurological condition which affects the daily functioning of a human being whether an adult or a child. ADHD is characterized with a number of symptoms. The symptoms however, depict themselves differently among children and adults.
The common symptoms of ADD may be categorized into two behavioral problems which include, lack of attentiveness and hyperactivity. Behavioral symptoms include, aggression, irritability, lack of restraint, persistent repetition of actions or words, fidgeting, hyperactivity and impulsivity. These symptoms may also be cognitive and they may include; forgetfulness, short attention span, absent-mindedness, problem paying attention and difficulty when it comes to focusing. In addition, the symptoms may also be in terms of mood and may include, boredom, sudden excitement, anxiety, mood swings and anger. Patients suffering from ADHD may also suffer learning disability or even depression.

Among children and teenagers, ADHD may depict itself in various situations. These situations may occur either when they are in school or at home. Children and teenagers may be observed to make careless mistakes say in schoolwork. They may also be unable to stick to time-consuming tasks. In addition to that the also appear to be forgetting their things, losing them constantly or even misplacing them and not remembering where last they had them. Children may also be observed to be fidgeting a lot, talking a lot and most of them are also observed to find it difficult to sit still in quite places or surroundings.

They are also observed to have little or no sense of danger at all and some also depict signs of interrupting conversations or talking even when it is not yet their turn. This may cause poor social interaction or even poor grades at school. Most of the signs observed among children can also be identified with the adults. Common signs among adults include, inability to deal with stress, organizational skills that are very poor, inability to focus or make priorities. Some are seen to jump from one task to another even before they can finish the previous one. Also they are observed to have impatience of extreme levels. Adults are also observed to be taking risks in various activities for instance some are observed to drive dangerously without minding their safety. Just as in children, forgetfulness is also observed among adults. In case you have these symptoms or you observe them from your close friend or family member always seek assistance or consult a doctor for medical advice.
